  • RFID tags: These tags are worn or attached by runners and contain programmed data related to each runner. The tags have integrated antennas that allow them to communicate with RFID readers. They are placed at the starting line and finish line, or can also be positioned at other crucial points along the race course. Typically, the tag attached to the runner’s bib is called a BIB number.

  • UHF RFID reader: It is a device that operates in the ultra-high frequency range, typically from 840 MHz to 960 MHz. It allows a single reader to simultaneously scan multiple RFID tags within an instant range of up to 5 meters. The UHF reader can read up to 250 tags per second. It is used to track the chip time of all corresponding participants in a marathon race. The reader is waterproof, suitable for use in marathons under various weather conditions.
  • Arduino Uno: is the interface between the UHF RFID card reader and the computer. The Timestamp feature in the serial monitor of the Arduino Uno is used for capture. Then calculate the chip times of all participants in the marathon.
